What We Do

Hemp Provided
Natural Farming Awareness Barren Land Reclamation

To protect the fragile ecosystem of the Indian Himalayan Region, we are refining and strengthening the traditional wisdom of Uttarakhand’s farming families with natural farming awareness.

our vision
Our mission is twofold: Improving the lives of hemp farmers in India, and facilitating eco-friendly consumption patterns worldwide.

The Hemp Foundation aims to uplift impoverished hemp farmers in India by connecting them with markets and promoting sustainable hemp products. Our mission extends to facilitating eco-friendly consumption worldwide, combatting plastic pollution with biodegradable hemp plastics, easing the water crisis through hemp clothing, and combating deforestation with hemp paper. Through promoting hemp farming and research, we envision a cleaner, greener planet where sustainable practices lead to a harmonious relationship between humanity and nature.

What We Do

Cluster Development

The Department of Agriculture, Uttarakhand, India, mentions that most of the individual landholdings in the state are small. More than 70% of the holdings are marginal, measuring up to one hectare or less. That makes the cluster development approach in agriculture eminently suitable for the state. That is the only sustainable approach for addressing the higher income need of marginalized farming families in the state.

Mobilizing SHGs

The Hemp Foundation is mobilizing women's SHGs in Uttarakhand, connecting them to hemp farming and agro-industries. This initiative, alongside NRLM support, transforms women's unpaid labor into paid work, empowering them economically. It also fosters sociocultural change by elevating women's roles in families and communities, documented through various studies. Additionally, it empowers women to take autonomous decisions, advancing toward a more egalitarian society.

Training Programmes

Through our capacity building initiative, we're revitalizing organic farming knowledge among Uttarakhand's farming families, bridging generational gaps and integrating modern techniques with traditional wisdom. This shift to collective commercial hemp production enhances market readiness and regulatory compliance, empowering local farmers economically.

Helping Farmers

Introducing commercial hemp cultivation in Uttarakhand's barren lands through cluster development, we blend traditional organic farming wisdom with modern techniques. Involving women in hemp-focused agro-industries, we equip farming families with marketing knowledge, enabling them to tap into the global hemp market. This initiative fosters economic regeneration, allowing families to thrive in their villages while earning sustainably.
